Joining Scouting

Before your child can participate in any Scout meetings you will need to complete an Application for Youth Membership form and an Annual Health Statement form (M1 and A4 see attachment below). This will give automatic insurance cover for your child whilst they are deciding if Scouting is for them.

Come And Try

When you come to one of our section meetings as part of the ‘Come And Try’ available, please introduce yourself and your child to one of the adults in uniform at the meeting and tell them that you are a new prospective member and would like to ‘Come And Try’ scouting.

The leader in charge will be able to answer any questions that you may have with regard to joining Scouting and if we are able to accept your child in the group (as we sometimes have waiting lists when sections are full).

If after discussing the membership with the leader and there is room in the section, there is a free trial period of three weeks, before you are required to pay the membership fees. This will give you and your child a chance to enjoy Scouting before you make a financial commitment. When we have accepted your child as a member then an invoice will be issued, containing all relevant fees and Bank Account/cash/cheque details (please do not make unsolicited payments to our back account as we would not know from whom they were made).

After 4 weeks of participation or when you and your child believe 1st Forrestfield Scout Group is for you, the Group Leader and Section Leaders would discuss a date for Investiture.

On Investiture the M1 – Application Form and WA Membership Fee will be sent by the group to WA Scouts Branch, thereby registering your child as a member of the Scout Association of Australia.
